They Didn't Use the Seat Cushions!


For decades, the preflight instruction would mention using the seat cushions as a flotation device in case of a water landing. I have yet to hear about this tactic actually working, or even tried. The guy who sold the industry on this for his company should be in the Marketing Hall of Fame.

double birdstrike. another event that's not supposed to happen. this should have been in '08.

I think I see a couple of them holding the seat cushions actually.

My wife made fun of me because I told her long ago (probably after reading it somewhere) that there had never been a successful water landing.

If I was on that plane, I would have asked someone to push me up to the top of the plane, especially if it was slowly sinking. Better than standing in cold water!

reading the accounts, i would have probably pushed to make it to teterboro in those seconds. and create a catastrophe on my way.
